CarlysAngels.net is owned and operated by Melanie & Cheryl. We met in 1999 in Montreal when we were there to attend Celine Dion's New Year's Eve Concert. We both have been huge Celine fans since 1996 (we have Celine's name tattooed on our necks!). We quickly discovered that we had much more in common than our mutual appreciation for Celine and we fell in love.
Fast forward 8 years - now we live in Ohio in our lovely little home with our 2 cats, Puddy & Herman. Cheryl works at a local billboard company as the graphic designer/production manager & occassionally works as the props manager at the local theatre. Melanie works as the administrator at a metal recycling company, but is really a fiction writer who hopes to be published one day.
We love a good adventure and if there are none to be found (and there usually aren't in our little town), we go looking for one. When we have a free day, we can be found exploring back roads and taking long drives in which ever direction the wind blows.
When we can, we make our trips longer. We have slept in our car in many a rest area up and down the east coast, and, as we have gotten more "financially stable", a countless number of flea bag motels (we keep a list of the best ones!). We have explored interesting spots (like an overgrown & abandoned amusement park in Toledo with our friend Rene), eaten at awesome restaurants (If you're ever in Wheeling, WV, be sure to visit Ye Olde Alpha & order the zuchinni planks!) and met interesting people (Shout out to not-so-tiny "Tiny" from the roadside diner in Cadiz, Ohio & to Norm, the wino from Montreal). Someday we want to make our way all the way out west in this manner (though hopefully in some nicer accommodations).
We love movies (Melanie starts to panic if we don't hit the Cinemark every Friday night), nature, adventure games, pop culture, good books, good conversations & good friends, and our families, especially our beloved niece & nephew (carlyrocks).
And we are, obviously, huge music lovers. Our taste is eclectic, but our hearts belong to female singer songwriters in all genres. We're suckers for clever lyrics, strong melodies and earthshattering voices. Every now and then (okay, twice) a singer comes along and is the perfect combination of talent & heart and wins us over completely.
During American Idol Season 7, the unthinkable happened. Carly Smithson showed up with her astounding voice and all her charm and surpassed Celine as our favorite singer of all time. Anyone that knows us can attest to how huge that declaration is (though we're not sure they believe us...). We look forward to her long career & to supporting her all the way.
